The High Performance society

A Global Shift society structures 21st century High Performance around humanitarian  excellence with wellness and sustainable progress as drivers, not money. The Global Shift announces a voluntary and involuntary transformation towards such society placing the current speculative and manipulative institutional structures and behaviour into a historic, humanitarian reflective perspective. We are individually asked to take responsibility for our future now by breaking away from morally illicit dependencies by making fundamental choices.

The modern High Performance society shows the following characteristics:

1. Purpose driven

The values of  this 21st century top evolutionary society are achieved by connecting human talent and energy with wellness related initiatives. This purpose is always related to human sustainable progress that is based on the endless human abundance of creative co-creation. This wellness is not institutionalised but structured around the contribution  and responsibility of every individual member of the community.

2. Value sharing

The purpose of wellness related issues is a motivating factor and experienced as fruitful when the results can be appreciated directly by the participating individuals. High Performance starts therefor through an entrepreneurial attitude at individual level and is closely related to the value creating and sharing social interaction with the direct network surroundings of every person. We call this sharing of local values (for local wellness) “local for local”. Within the context of globalisation every geographical region can apply this and create a chain of wellness driven communities that interact again among each other. Eventually the wellness society can cover the entire planet and beyond. We call this “local for local for global”.

Money is no valuable when value is measured through sustainable progress. Change cannot be banked and progress cannot be saved nor wellness charged. It can be experienced. The ongoing process is “financed” through the investment of collaborative energy and co-creative talents within the community. If a value system has to be put in place this is to create an exchangeable system of progressive values with other local for local communities. Sharing values freely creates equality, stability and peace. Within the community a value system can be put in place that registers and values the talents and energy of the participants in order to give them continuous feedback and community status. Status is provided by the community itself and can be exchanged for usables s.a. consumables, luxury items, housing, etc.

3. Self-sufficiency

Individual and local self-sufficiency (energy, food, water, shelter, etc) is the key engine of the High Performance wellness society as wellness is not an external source of pleasure and satisfaction but an inner one. Any dependence on external securities is a potential threat to stability. This can also be a measurement for progress. Eg. when the threat of dependency arises this should automatically trigger innovative creativity for independency. Auto-determination, self-leadership and authentic, independent self-sufficiency are necessary mental and cultural conditions to be able to take responsibility for such complex issue as wellness. The column of values (individual identity of talent, energy and purpose, safety, equality, trust and cooperation) will guide the sustainable progress.

4. Applied technology and science

All current scientific knowledge, practical know-how and the technological instruments are used and deployed in locally applied innovations that contribute to the purpose driven challenge. Knowledge and tools are only of value when they produce the desired results which is a direct motivation to use them to prove their value. Sustainable progress is a never ending quest and becomes a chain of continuous results that is challenged by the ever changing environment and the intrinsic motivations of the community itself. As a consequence fragmented entrepreneurship, banking and party politics will disappear as they have no function in such dynamics.

5. Education and measurement

Wellness, sustainability and progress is educated through integral experience and feedback by providing spiritual, emotional, physical and rational meaning to behaviour, mentality and events. If the surroundings are High Performance in wellness the newcomers will be challenged to learn about it and improve it. It becomes a symbol for the “art of living” by addressing our evolution in an individual and collective way. Education never stops and wellness is always challenged through sustainable progress. Measurement of levels of progress in human values can become the teasing triggers for purpose driven initiatives.

The scientific learning processes feed our rational consciousness but this is not enough. Knowledge needs to be applied to our lifestyle to create sustainable progress through feedback. We relate with our natural environment from which we learn and that we integrate into our existence with a benefit for all involved.

Local and Global Transformation

The transformation starts with each of us, changing our role in the social awareness from money based dependence to wellness based motivations. We are ourselves responsible to create such society, starting at home, in our streets, neighborhoods and expanding world wide. The current money based systems based on institutional greed are collapsing making way slowly for the rise of the new High Performance society. But is not just money that is blocking the evolution of the human quantum leap. Also hierarchical power positions in business, banking and politics are reluctant to let go of their level of influence. They remain in place because we allow it by accepting them.

Nevertheless the new 21ste century High Performance can already be observed around us and all over the world where people become cultural creatives and create their own image of society. They are the pioneers that use or even create the openings that the recessions leave behind. In many occasions the transformation takes place on individual bases by brave confrontation with the old system, or by addressing key issues that the old system cannot deal with anymore. In any case, the new High Performance of the 21st century is slowly showing its face, breaking through the brick walls of material dominance of the 20th century. It will not be long before it can expand freely and fast throughout the human world with strength, flexibility and determination proving that no challenge is too complex for humankind, not even abolishing our past and starting with renewed energy, if the purpose and drive is right. And wellness is priceless and worth the effort.

Free e-book in 20 chapters for a better world

Free book (first chapter)

Back in 2004, when I was writing and editing my very first publication in Dutch (Title in English would have been: Handbook for the future Market leader) I introduced the 5K method or “the five keys to business success in the 21ste century. People asked me why I publish my book in Dutch and not directly in English for the global market? Good question.

Most business models came from the United States with very well known guru’s that made name with their publications. The universal business truth was often directly made synonym to the USA.  It is a huge country with obvious post war business successes that had conquered the world. What had a small Dutchman to add to all this wisdom? Why would anyone accept a business theory coming from the lowlands of Europa that had known the golden age back in times of East Indies?

That was one of reasons why I was not too keen on addressing the world market immediately. Who would care?

The other reason was that I got insight and awareness on what I had to mention after returning to Holland with my family after 27 years of absence. The culture shock was tremendous as well as my amazement how my original country of birth had changed. The warmth that I had felt back in the early 70’s had totally disappeared. Instead I found a cold, materialistic culture of complaining people with a heavy, very authoritive and bureaucratic government that even ruled on the amount of balls you could have in your soup so to say.

So writing my book and looking for solutions I had a look first at Holland. The fact that all this coldness had cost me my second marriage and left me to take care of my two small children also helped to concentrate on anything but the chance to have to travel. Whatever happened I simply wanted to be home to take care of my daughters when school was out.

Gradually I got to understand that the issue that I was addressing was not simply a Dutch one but involved the entire world, the entire human species.

When in 2008 the credit crisis struck I had already critically analysed various business sectors s.a. banking, supermarkets and garbage collection. It became clear to me that simple consultancy work as an author would get me seated with powerful people with the advise to do something about it. These people would maybe listen to me but hardly pay to hear that they had to change mentality and the way they do business. These people would want to hear how they could get back to old profitability again as fast as possible. And that insight I could not provide to them.

It became clear to me that I had to address the Global Shift issue by taking responsibility myself. I started the STIR Foundation (STIR = Sustainability, Transformation, Indexation and Research) together with a friend from Belgium. It became an ordeal to find our way into developing awareness and enlightenment into true value based concepts and organizations. Belgium and Holland were totally different and soon my partner decided to refocus.

Only after two years and a lot of experimentation, tough decisions, differences in insight between people, struggles etc we got to the very first true results. We realised that true progress could only be made if we created environments where all disciplines for change would commit together. Having said that we also recognized the gigantic burden we had to deal with. How to get people with different agendas en priorities to work together on a specific higher purpose?

I realized that we were not to invent a system for global change but unite a diversity of people who would voluntarily offer their expertise and scope of professional responsibility to sit together and develop a joint purpose. It became clear that this could only be done by adding an independent, purpose driven environment where the encounters could take place. We created the basis for local STIR cooperations, first nearby in my home town.

My girls have grown up in the meantime, my freedom has grown to travel more but also my expertise on how to get things done in an extremely complex transformative environment. It cannot be done anywhere. It requires the lucky situation of people with a particular mentality and desire to make a difference. It requires the unique situation of finding such people in eachother’s vicinity and with enough authority and diversity to make it happen.

The world has become conscious also now that things need to change. But how to I reach those people who have the right attitude, network and insight to join forces in their comfort zone? It became clear to me that time was ready to make my book, practical methods, models, views etc available to the rest of the world. It is my sincere desire that the contribution to humanity would help to accelerate processes around the world and avoid that many people would have to “re-invent the wheel”.

So it happened that I decided that my own adventurous life to discover how to proceed did not just belong to me but to everyone. My writing I make available to the world totally free of charge. Not because I do not need the money, on the contrary, but because I feel that the process of the Global Shift and our chances together are much more important than trying to promote an article. I hope with this that the transformation gains momentum and in this movement I can fullfil my role of co-responsible for permanent change.

If one day I can look at my daughters and see that they have a sustainable future then I am satisfied and happy that I have been able to contribute just that little bit that made it happen, just like they and so many others hopefully do to make it last for ever.

Free book: The Global Shift, a quantum leap in human evolution

Today (13.06.2011) I made available the very first chapter. Every sunday a new chapter will be released for about 20 sundays in a row. The only thing I ask you is to send me an email. For me it is important to develop a network of people who are worried, curious or interested. Among you we will find surely enough people to take co-responsibility too for the global shift in your own direct environment.

China will bring us back to basics

This weekend James Vena posted a discussion on his LinkedIn group International Trade and Internet. He was refering to an article in Wall Street Journal on May 16th and announced the possibility of an important financial dip in Q3 of this year, a dip deeper that before.

The post did not come as a surprise to me nor the fact that shortages of raw materials would eventually bring the global speculative economies to a hold. In fact it was very simple to reach that conclusion. You simply have to apply the arithmatic that Dr Bartlett shows in his famous lecture posted on YouTube. If China has a steady anual economic growth of 9% and this extrapolates to a simmilar growth of consumption of raw materials, and doubling time of the exponential consumption is about 7 years of all these figures line up.

China’s growth started when western worlds had already dramatically and irresponsibly consumed their way through the Earth’s resources. Back in the early 70’s the Club of Rome already raised a flag to warn us that we could not continue our consumption rate as the Earth’s resources were limited.

Our global economies based on structural debt demanded growth and more growth to counter the evaporation of capital through interest. The consumer society was expanded world wide until the limits of today. We have reached the end of the line of the unsustainable global approach.

I myself announced that the big crash would occur somewhere before 2015. I still took one doubling time as a margin to fool myself in the hope to have time to contribute still with an alternative, Global Shift, that would be strong enough to become a global promise at the time the obsolete system collapsed. But the doubling time is indeed too far fetched and optimistic.

I never took the trouble to actually calculated the remaining Earth resources and plot them along the line of growing usage. Common sense learns us that the end of that line is nearby. How near has various variables, s.a. the growing pricing, the innovative push to reduce dependency, the reuse of materials that are already in circulation, the consumer reduction effect of crises, etc. But these would only delay the crash with months not with years or longer.

All the huge capital injections of governments were oriented to maintain the old system of consumption and allow for growth to continue without any consideration of its consequences on material consumption and its finite nature. Money is now made on speculation on shortages, keeping survival away and accessible only to the highest bidder. The power game of politicians may have postponed potential war situations but they were acting over the back of the global population without using their power to introduce a parallel system of sustainable progress. They are especially to be blamed for that. They have played the global game for the wealth of just a few and blocked out of individual greed and self interests the evolution of a new human organization based on true values but not money.

Money prevailed, not as a means for the large masses but as a goal for the greedy, supported by policy makers, politicians and executives of multinationals. Soon all the money they accumulated will be worth absolutely nothing, not even to buy a bread. Because to buy a bread someone will have to harvest the wheat, grind it, mix and bake the flour. Soon bread will be more valuable than all euros and dollars together. The true rich people are those who have grown used to be humbly self sufficient in food production, housing and clean drinking water. Back to universal basics will surely become the global issue in the next few months and years. China teaches us but are we willing to learn?
