Eindhoven News is our newsfeed in English for the large multinational community that settled in Eindhoven over tge years. Over 150 nationalities are counted. Each of these persons left their country, their family, their home culture, their climate, in order to make something of their lives in the Netherlands. Some were lured by a job, some by love, others came as a student and stayed or settled at first as refugee to become a local citizen. Over 30% of the city’s population has roots from elsewhere.
Eindhoven News keeps all up to date in English with various volunteers and contributing reporters. The newsfeed was professionally set up by Irene Martens who has herself spend long periods of time abroad. She knows by heart what it is like to be disconnected and what it takes to settle in a place that has an impossible local language and dialect, bureaucracy, a democratic structure, etc.
On our quest for social inclusion as primary need for human wellness we found a lot of connection with these members of society. For many, the challenge of adjusting to a new society represented a new mindset already. This awareness boost is a warm basis also for Sustainocracy, our core human values based democracy and human interaction. We are therefore happy to welcome people from these communities to our weekly inspirational sessions and grateful to Eindhoven News to once again be our ambassador into this large community.
